Question about Red Tip Superspeeds

I found 2 Red Tip Gillette Superspeeds at an antique store earlier today. One has a B 1 on the back and the other has an A 2. I think it's the date code but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

The A2 was made in the 2nd Quarter of 1955. The B1 was made in the 1st Quarter of 1956. These are great razors, designed with a wider blade gap for a more aggresive shave. There's is lots of info on this site about all the Gillette models, from each year that they were made. Hopefully, AsylumGuido or one of the other Gillette aficianados will jump in and help educate.

My suggestion is to purchase both. They are great razors, and if you find they aren't for you, there will be folks here eager to get them through the BST forum. What were they priced at, BTW? Were they just the razors, or did they come with cases?

If you find they are great shavers, you might keep one and BST the other, or keep both because...well you never know when you'll need a backup, right? :w00t: They are one of my favorites, right now I have three because...well, you never know when your backup might need a backup, right? :w00t: :w00t:

Here is a site for interpreting Gillette razor date codes:

And 2 Red Tips in an antique store is a nice find.

I agree with others that buying both, keeping one, and BSTing the other is the way to go. That's a win-win-win because you get a great razor, someone else get's a great razor, and you will likely be able to make a buck or two.
