Question about puck in MWF

I got my first ceramic bowl of MWF yesterday and I noticed unlike other soaps the puck is loose in the bowl. Is their any way to get it to stick in one place? Should I melt it and pour it in there?

Don't melt the soap. The puck will burn because of the tallow. Instead wet the soap and let it sit in the ceramic dish overnight. If that doesn't do the trick, load your brush while holding the puck still with your finger. Usually when MWF soaks a little while and the soap suds spreads around the puck locks in place. It shouldn't take you very long. Good luck with a terrific soap!

As soon as you use it, it will stick. If you can't wait, run some hot water over it, pour it out of the bowl, and press the puck down with your finger. Once you start using it, the puck will absorb water and "expand" to fill the bowl -- the spaces fill up with either lather or expanded soap. Don't leave the top off too long when it is drying, or you will end up with lots of cracks in the top of the soap (which will go away again as soon as you wet it a little).

Enjoy da Fat -- it's wonderful soap.

my puck of tabac did the same thing. it will expand when it gets wet and fill the bowl. if you let it sit and dry out for a month or so it will shrink down again. it's nothing wrong with the product, that's just how they sell it.

If the puck spins in the bowl, then use a back and forth motion with the brush instead of circular. Kind of like drawing an "M" on the surface. It'll stick after a couple of three uses.

I recently picked up a new MWF in the bowl. I can definately say after one use, it will stick. I just had to make sure that I left the puck centered in the bowl while wet, put the lid back on, next morning it didn't budge.

Tabac has ridges in the bowl which fit into grooves on the puck of soap -- no movement from day 1. It is a completely different set up than MWF, which just sits in a flat bottomed bowl that is slightly larger than the fresh puck.

Or if you're impatient and don't want to have the excess soap stick the puck in place, you can always just mill the puck and form it to the entire width of the bowl. That's what I did and it worked like a charm.
