question about arko sticks

i'm still an arko Virgin so bear with me!

i'm going to want to put this in my mug mostly, i know the best way is to grade it and mush it, but what is the texture of the shaving sticks like? is it similar to deodorant? or hard as a rock? just kinda figuring out what to expect when i get it is all :biggrin1:

You shouldn't need to grate an Arko stick. With reasonably strong hands you can simply smoosh it into a mug or other container.

I use it as intended. Face lather.

I place my Arko in my shaving mug and smush it with the bottom of a large prescription bottle. Hands and fingers would also work although the puck may not look as nice and uniform as it would using an appropriately sized bottle.

I purchased a box of Arko so I could face lather -and- smush one in a bowl.

It might be my imagination, but I still have to let them air out a while before use otherwise the scent seems to get stronger.

When mine was getting a bit low in the mug I zapped it in the microwave for a few seconds - 10 or 15. Then smashed it down a bit more and a bit more even. Love the stuff....and I rather like the smell. But as with all things - you may not like the smell.

I've always mashed mine into a bowl. Hold it and rub it around in your hands to warm it up a little and it should smash right down. Arko lathers great as a stick, but it's nothing compared to working a brush right on top of the puck.

Break out the trusty Swiss army knife and slice off some 1/2 inch slices and mash them one by one into your bowl and massage it around the edges until it looks nice and neat as you like. When you work it in with your thumbs, it will soften and feel kind of like stiff modeling clay. I dipped my fingers in some water and worked slowly so as not to work up suds or lather. Have fun.
