What's new

QED sandalwood

Not sure if this is new, but I only noticed it today. QED's brought back their sandalwood soap! I've heard a lot about it here and am pretty tempted to try it, but then... there's also the Special 218 and B&B scents which sound pretty interesting as well.

Anyone got any comment on any of these? I haven't tried any QED soaps yet, but I've heard they're some of the most strongly scented soaps out there.

Ok, listen very closely.

BUY. THE. SANDALWOOD. SOAP.
BUY. THE. B&B. SOAP.
BUY. THE. SPECIAL. 218. SOAP.

but most especially...

BUY THE SANDALWOOD SOAP!

Charles hasn't sold his sandalwood soap for over a year. It might go away again, along with the B&B (which is his Special 218 blend mixed with a healthy dose of sandalwood EO). So do yourself a favor and get it while you can! :thumbup1:

EDIT: Yes, these are some of the most strongly-scented glycerin-based soaps out there. And if you want to know what real sandalwood smells like, this soap will answer that question for you.
You've been warned. :tongue_sm

They are very good for glycerin soaps. They have a ton of essential oils and have caused irritation for some gents with sensitive skin.

As do some others too, depending upon fragrance. (Meaning from other soap manufacturers too, occasionally will have an adverse reaction to some.)

But yes, in my opinion you can do no better for a glycerine soap then QED brand. :thumbup1:

I just ordered the Sandalwood. His soap is all I use in rotation.

B&B + Sandalwood + shipping = $49.15

I think I'll pass...

This is exactly the reason he stopped making these soaps to begin with. The particular EOs used for these scents -- and he crams as much EO into his soaps as he can -- aren't cheap. Especially sandalwood EO. So yeah, they're not cheap. But the flip side is you're getting the Real Deal, and lots of it.

Yea but you get what you pay for. He doesn't make soaps to compete on price with every other gylcerine soap pourer. His soaps are premium stuff and he only uses "essential oil fragrances" or he doesn't make it at all. Triple milled soaps are allot more money so his soaps are a nice middle ground. It all depends if you want quality or quantity. :001_cool:

I pulled the trigger on the sandalwood.

I've been lucky enough to own some real sandalwood mala beads, sandal chips, and some premium Indian and Japanese sandalwood incense, and all of this has really spoiled me with regard to sandal. No shaving product has really come close to the real thing, so I'm giving this a go. :001_smile

That is not a bad price compared to some other website that was offering rose glycerin soap for $49. :thumbdown
Yeah, I agree.. I jumped on the SRD BR soap and ended up selling it. Still, may pick up a tub of the sandalwood. I have a tub of his tobacco scented soap and it's pretty good.

Very curious to know what you think of the scent. I have several vials of sandalwood EO, both Sri Lankan & Indian, as well as various attars that use sandalwood oil as their base. To my nose, his sandalwood soap smells just like them. So please do post your thoughts!

My wife is a bit of a sandalwood junkie. She pretty much dislikes every "sandalwood" product on the market - she about fainted (in a good way) the first time she smelled QED sandalwood.

My face usually reacts to heavy FO's and sometimes heavy Lavender EO. I hope this isn't the case with the sandalwood soap. My skin has always been okay with Mysore Sandal Soap and Chandrika though....

Nice grab, Mark. I am tempted to pick up that as well. I had a tub of the Special 218 and it was very nice. The same with added Sandalwood may cause me to give in and order the B&B.

I grabbed the B&B because it is by far my favorite and now, with everyone's opinions, I am feeling like I am missing out on the sandalwood. I have never had sandalwood soap, what am I missing and how do I rationalize another order for some more soap when I have enough to last me for years already. Please someone start enabling, I want to buy, just doubting I really need this stuff too.:blink:

Thanks,

Jeff

Can you Reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaallllllllllyyyy ever have enough of a good thing?
(I think not!)

Just feel free to use a little bit more every time you lather up now, enjoy the fragrance and great lather without fear of ever running out.

how does it compare to the B&B scent? What exactly is a Sandalwood scent? Is that what I am getting the most off the B&B scent?

Thanks.

Uh, since it has pure sandalwood EO, it's a true "premium" and unique product, in a larger size than Mama Bear's glycerin soaps.

So no, you don't NEED it. But wouldn't it be nice to have it?

How's that for enabling?
