QCS six-pack in today!

After working my way through ten samples from QCS, I settled on six flavors (two of which I hadn't sampled - blind buys!) -

Here're the tubs of joy I got:

Cayman (bay rum)
Celestial Woods (evergreens & stuff)
Fougere (fougere)
Key Lime (a blind buy; lime flavored)
Mysore Sandalwood (yup, sandalwood)
Vetiver (a blind buy; smells of dirt & stuff)

Of course, I had to whip up a bowl of lather from each.... and I shaved with the Vetiver.

The Cayman, Key Lime, and Vetiver are absolutely wonderful! The lather is first-rate, good cushion, nice slip 'n' slide - just great creams (croaps?), performance-wise.

...AND THE SCENTS!

I characterize the scents as dry and authentic. No candy, no Pez, no Froot Loops.... Scents for adults! If you are familiar with Royall Lymes splashes you will find these QCS creams match wonderfully - they are very nice analogues, to my nose. The Royall Lyme splash is my favorite lime, bar none - and Matt's Key Lime SC pairs perfectly. Royall Vetyver = QCS Vetiver. While the QCS Cayman is very close to Royall Bay Rhum... I think the Cayman matches Dominica Bay Rum even better - both are beautifully dry bay rums.

Celestial Woods, Sandalwood, Fougere... these too are outstanding shaving creams - and the scents are damned good, too. But those first three... spectacular!

I love QCS! I've been using a tub of Vostok almost daily. How strong is the sandalwood? That may be my next choice (along with the hopefully reproduced iced key lime)

I will be finishing up February with Basilic to use up my sample, but it is the Fougere I need the full size of.

The sandalwood is not strong at all to my nose, but I'm beginning to think I'm sandalwood-anosmic (sandalwood soaps & creams others find strong, I don't).

I'm thinking about combining the Cayman & the Key Lime to go with my Dominica Lime Bay Rum splash!

I hope it is ok that I am responding. The Mysore Sandalwood sample is not as strong as the full size tub because of how small the sample is. That being said, real sandalwood is a generally weaker smell. If you are expecting a very strong scent, you will be unfortunately disappointed.

For the record, I asked Matt to make me a turbo-scented version of his sandalwood, and (after testing it to make sure it worked properly) he happily complied. Obviously it's more expensive than the regular sandalwood. But the big bump in scent is truly worth the price.

That means a lot coming from someone whose collection of natural scents probably makes my 50-ish bottle collection look like nothing

Yeah, I have no regrets about turbo-charging my sandalwood. Smells great! Curious to hear your thoughts after you receive it.
