QCS aftershave balm

Just wanted to see how others were enjoying the new QCS AS balm. Prior to QCS releasing their AS balm last month, I regularly used Proraso AS balm, GFT Lime skin food, and Captain's Choice Bay Rum. Regardless of the outside temp, I tend to use a balm about 90% of the time. I will always have Captain's Choice in my rotation-it is simply fantastic. The others will not be repurchased. I purchased QCS balms in Key Lime and Vostok. There is absolutely NO WAY I could be happier. It is simply the best balm/aftershave I have ever used. A little goes a very long way and the skin conditioning properties are unparalleled. Just curious if others were enjoying it as much as I am?

Three days using the Provence balm. It is top drawer stuff! I have the feeling that I will be ordering another one, thinking about Vostok. I feel that it is definitely worth the asking price.

It is ridiculous how little I need to cover my head and face. One little squirt covers my face, neck, and a little of my head, and the second squirt get the rest of my head. It goes on silky smooth, slightly thicker than a milk, and less greasy than my other balms. As far as skin care goes, this has bumped my Musgo Real basal and Speick basalm down, my top two. The scent is just like the shave soap I have, which I would say is woodsy with a touch of citrus.

I need to pull out a soap that really leaves my face dry, and see how it does with that.

"10$ per 1oz seems like a lot."

This.

I purchased a 1 oz. bottle of the ASB and it's almost comical to see how small it is. When you push down the nozzle, a tiny, thread-like stream of balm comes out. I can't see getting more than a dozen applications or so out of a bottle, and as good as it is, $10 is indeed excessive. The new Don Marco ASB from RazoRock I just got is also $10 but gives more than triple the amount and is equally good. I think QCS needs to re-think the pricing on the balms if they want to move a lot of product.

I think you guys are using WAY too much of the balm. I still have like 3/4 of my sample from testing, and i've used it for at least 30 shaves.

120 shaves per 1oz. based on your estimation.

$10 per 1oz.

~8.3 cents per shave.

Not bad, provided that each person requires the same amount of balm per shave.

I'm a fan of The Shave Den's balm which is quite a bit cheaper. Doubt I'd try QCS because of the cost.

+1. I only need 1 to 2 squirts of this balm to cover my face and neck. I will easily get 100 shaves if not more per bottle. Regardless, it is the best balm I have used. Easily worth the $ to me but as we all well know, YMMV.

-I seriously doubt you'll get 120 shaves worth of balm from a 1 oz. bottle, unless you're using microscopic amounts each time.

I don't mind paying the cost if I really like it. But given I don't know their scents, I dont want to spend so much trying them out. Samples please!

-They do sell samples of their creams, but not the aftershave balm (which is basically sample size anyway). QCS makes some of the best performing creams out there and the scents are fantastic; get a sample set and give them a try!

Hi, Flat-Top. I am sorry that you are not satisfied with our aftershave balm. You should get more than twelve applications out of a bottle. In fact, I would expect you to be able to use it for several months. One squirt is more than enough (I lightly press down on the bottle I have in my bathroom). Our aftershave balm is very concentrated, and a little goes a long way. We use one-ounce bottles because we believe the balm will last you a while, especially since most of you have several balms in your rotation. We figured that once you have used up an ounce, you would want a fresh bottle.

As far as price goes, I really cannot say anything. We set our prices based on our ingredients and the effort we put in to create our products. Our products are made by hand, right here in the USA. Most of our products are made fresh as you order, unlike the big companies that make them in large batches and have them sitting on shelves for many weeks. Please compare our ingredients list to those of our competitors. We believe you will find a world of difference, not only in the high-quality ingredients we use, but also in the ingredients that we have chosen to not add to our aftershave balm.

I hope I am not out of line by replying. Feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail should you have any questions. Have a great weekend :001_smile

Hi, Flat-Top. I am sorry that you are not satisfied with our aftershave balm.

-On the contrary, I am VERY satisfied with the quality of the balm; it's just the value I have a bit of a beef with. If I do in fact get more applications than I think I will, $10 for a 1 oz. bottle will be a fair price. Have to wait and see, I guess.

I cant use their creams since they have tallow. But I have heard a lot of rave about them in the forums.

Based on what mretzloff replied, it may be a fair price if the ingredients are indeed top of the line. I will buy a single bottle to try out and see for myself before complaining more.

Flat-top, try using one squirt for your face, and if you shave your head one squirt for it. I could not imagine using more than that, and I have very dry skin.

I use two or three squirts and that is about right for me. Other ASB I use would take more. This is one of those less is better deals. I have three flavors, QCS, Caymen (bay rum) and Celestial Woods (sandalwood or woody) along with my others, they will last quite some time. The Celestial woods has a really a fantastic scent, my favorite!
