pure badger restore help

I have in my possession a small Lord Centerfield "Pure Badger" handle.
Original opening is a shade over 16mm. I could open it to 18, maybe 19 but not sure about 20mm.
Options at this size are limited, so looking for recommendations.
Also.......am I being too much of a purist to want to keep it as a Pure Badger? I ain't too fond of overly scritchy....

I would think Pure might be more on the scritchy side then you would want.
I just completed a restore with a 18mm Finest Badger Hair (original size was a 16mm handle) & was very impressed with the knot. It has soft tips, nice back bone & the knot I feel is comparable to a 20mm Knot. I did one awhile back with a Best Badger knot at 16mm but was not happy with it at all. They do sell a 16mm Finest now, but that would be a little on the small side at least for me.

Heres a pic of the 18mm Finest I just did.

Thanks for the reply. I just removed the not and got it to 18mm. Anything more will look too big.
I have a feeling you're right about Finest vs Pure, it's just that there's that damn label on the side telling me PURE every time I see it

Then again, the more I read.....

Looks like "Pure Badger" was a more common term back in the day, and no one company has the same definitions of Pure/Best/Finest etc....

I think I just talked myself into Finest.
Is TGN the sole option at this 18mm size? I've been looking for an excuse to pick up some stuff there, like ink.

I feel for ya! BTDT I some times just need to remind myself that my Kent BK4 Silver Tip brush says "pure badger" on it meaning that it is not mixed with other types of hair!
If you go with pure I think you would need to open it up to almost 20mm, I don't think they have any pure badger that"s smaller. Seems that they used to in the past though?

Ether way it's a great looking handle you have & would be a fine brush with a new knot in it! Enjoy the restore of it...

Thanks - pulled the trigger on an 18mm Best and an 18mm finest.
I have another wee handle around here somewhere.

thanks for the input!

Post pics when your done. I know everyone here would love see it!!!

Agreed.

That's a fine handle you've got there Haggises. I would love to see it fully restored. And I'll attest to the TGN Finest. If you like soft then you're in for a treat.
