Fellow B&B'ers, I just had my first shave with Provence Sante' Verlaine shave soap. The short of it-my best shave ever, no doubt about it. I did my usual pre-shave routine, shower, and an olive oil soap wash, while the Simpsons Colonel was soaking in hot water. I loaded up a new Israeli Red Pack in the Progress, and proceeded to load up the brush, as I face lather. With the Progress set on 1.5 for the first pass, and then at 2 for the next 2 passes, I got an irritation free, fantastic BBS, no nicks, weepers, etc. Post shave was warm rinse, Thayer's Rose, cold rinse, Nancy Boy replenishing after shave gel, followed by SCS Mediterranean Citrus Splash.
This soap has just blown me away. It lathered easily even with my very hard water, and delivered a rich thick lather. The slickness and glide was absolutely outstanding. While I am not 100% certain, I think that the high shea butter content really softened up the beard, as it was an absolutely effortless shave. I could really hear the razor singing as it sliced through the hairs with no resistance at all. If I had to shave with this soap only, I could easily live with it, the shave was that good. Provence Sante' is now at the top of the soap list. As usual, YMMV.
