Proraso tub soap and face lathering

So far in my DE shaving adventure I have only ever used an ARKO stick to face lather with but I now want to try out a Proraso (white) soap tub.
I've checked out the obligatory number of semi-naked men on youtube and it seems like most if not all are lathering in a mug/cup when using a tub of soap like this.

Is it feasible to still face lather with this soap? I kind of like that extra exfoliation and 'massage' on my face.

I assume I would;
- wet the soap,
- soak the brush,
- get rid of excess water,
- rub the brush against the soap, in the tub, in circular motions for 30+ seconds,
- wet my face,
- apply the brush to my face and try and build up a lather.

Like so?

Sounds like you're on track. I do this with all of my Proraso tubs. The key is of course how much water is on the brush at the time you load it off the soap in the tub...too much and you'll have airy lather.

Proraso tubs are amazingly convenient for just the method you described.

I learned without having to watch the semi naked men however...LOL

Proraso is one of my favorites. I use it to face lather similarly to what you describe. The one thing you may have to watch is how many strokes across the tub that you need in order to get enough soap into your brush. It doesn't take much, since Proraso is a very soft product. It seems almost like a cross between a soap and a cream. Great stuff.

Regards,
Tom

That's exactly what I did last night albeit with the green tub rather than the white. Worked just great.

You don't have to wet the soap, but it doesn't hurt if you do....remember, there is no "right" way with virtually any of this stuff....it's all about finding the way that works for you!

ive been face lathering proraso green for the last few shaves. i take my time and get thick protective lathe. i start with my brush too wet and then load too long and add more water on my face until it is where i want it!

WRT Proraso...even if your brush starts too wet and you've wet the puck, it's easy to add more product and get a great lather....and you don't have to feel like you're breaking the bank!

Thanks for the link. I'm going to try this tomorrow, but with a bowl. I've been knocking more water out of the brush than Marco describes and that is probably why I've been working so hard at getting the lather right.

Here's Marco's method and lathering in a bowl:

I've had the same problem with a brush I recently put together. I'll think I have it loaded well, start to work the brush in the bowl, add a little water, and the lather isn't super creamy and has bubbles. I don't have the problem with my synthetic WD brush. Kind of weird.

Thank you! That's extremely helpful and unexpected that you'd throw a video up for this. I see exactly what I was doing wrong now.

Oh just to clarify - that's not MY video, I just found it on youtube in the 'half-naked men shaving' fetish section :)

I face lather with prorasso white and it's pretty easy.
Any time I find the lather loosing it's slickness or cushion and back to the puck goes the brush.
I do circular and straight across strokes on the soap until a very dense and slick lather appears and then face lather it.

Btw I noticed Proraso has a special soap just for sensitive skins: http://www.amazon.com/Proraso-Shavi...s=Proraso+Shaving+Soap+with+Green+Tea+and+Oat

I was rather excited before I looked at the list of ingredients;

Aqua (Water/Eau), Stearic Acid, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Lactic Acid, Parfum (Fragrance), Menthol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Geraniol, Citral, Limonene, Linalool, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Thymus vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf Extract, Avena sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Camellia sinensis Leaf Extract, Etidronic Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA.
