Production numbers for black handled Gillette Super Speeds?

For the last three months I have been trying to find a black handled Gillette Super Speed made in the quarter I was born. I've looked here in the BST and Hobbyist forums, on eBay and on Etsy. My fiancee has been scouring estate sales and antique shops locally and while she's found some great razors (including a black SS from another year), we've had no luck looking for a V3. I wanted to post in the BST forum but I've got a long way to go to qualify to post in there.

So, at this point I'm wondering if I am looking for my white whale. Does anyone have information on how many black handled Super Speeds were made in any given year?

Unless something has changed, I think you can post a Want to Buy on B/S/T even with a low post count. Some one correct me if I am wrong.

I do not think I've ever seen production numbers for any Gillette model.

Good luck on your hunt. If it was made then you will find one.....

From about 1970 on I suspect Gillette simply did not make certain razors in certain quarters, or very few. Possibly they had improved production techniques so much that they could stockpile razors, and possibly disposables were already reducing demand for new DE handles.

Well I just did a quick look and while I came up dry, I can say Gillette was still in the DE business around then.
I turned up a U3, U4, W1, W4 and an A4 Black Handeled Super Speeds.

Thanks for the information so far. I plan on keep searching - I figure the hunt is part of the fun in this - but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't chasing something that would be fairly hard to get. I'll keep this post updated in case I find one
