Came across a website today that allows you to upload a 3D file (from something like autodesk) and they can literally "print" the object for you in an assortment of different materials. Stainless steel, plastic, etc...
I'm not good with 3D software, but they did have some free, easier to use software linked on their site that would allow you to design something and upload it. This made me start thinking - oh the possibilities! Scales, brush handles, scuttles, bowls (they have glazed ceramic too). Has anyone ever used this service for their DIY projects? The site is called shapeways.com. I think it would be cool if we all collectively designed something, like scales or a brush handle, and had them print it for us
Seems really cool. Other applications besides shaving are endless too...
