President?

I was just wondering if anyone could chime in about how a Gillette President shaves. I had a Diplomat at one time and shaved with it a few times, but I can't remember how it shaved. Perhaps someone could compare it to a Flare Tip Super Speed, a 40s Super Speed, a Red Tip, or a #66. Is it more/less aggressive, heaver/lighter than one of these? Any comparisons would be greatly appreciated.

I've been meaning to shave with my President.... I'll give it a whirl tomorrow morning and let you know what I think of it.

I've got a couple of Presidents and have found them to be on the aggressive side.

I tend to gravitate toward milder razors (like the Diplomat that I shaved with today).

I would say it is in the red tip range or more aggressive. The fifties flair tip would be milder.

I would rate the president as quite mild. Perhaps an adjustable on 2-3. I prefer 7-8 range. It gives a decent shave but takes a bit more work IMO.

The President is a great shaver, comparable to / slightly better than the Aristocrat or the Red Tip in my opinion.

A close, comfortable, low effort shave.

And in real style.

I don't care for the shave I get from mine.It takes 5 passes to get as smooth as a 3 pass shave from my new improved, new, fatboy on 5,old type,40s SS.It's beautiful though, feels good in the hand,so I still like to use it now and then.

I find it a nice razor to shave with, looks like a aristocrat but i find not as aggressive though.

Okay. Thanks for the input. It looks like there are two votes for something comparable to the Red Tip and four votes for a mild razor.

I shaved with mine on the weekend for the first time and I was very impressed. It didn't feel aggressive but does an excellent job. The quality of shave was very good. I love the weight and balance of it. It feels substantial in your hand.

I agree with you. What many might mistake for "mildness" I put down to a smooth comfortable shave. I don't find mine mild in the least.

I tried a different blade this morning,WOW what a difference.I never believed a razor needed to be matched to a blade but I'm a believer now.I put in a Derby extra and got as great a shave as I've had with any razor. The President might be my favorite razor now.I think the weight is perfect and it looks beautiful.

My President is the mildest razor in my rotation of around ten "usual suspects". I use it with a Feather blade. Good looking razor, even without any exotic plating.
