Pre de Provence vs Provence Sante Green Tea

I am looking to give either one of these French soaps a try. I have never used a Shea/Karite Butter soap before. Which one do you prefer? Which one is slicker? (The slicker the better in my book!)

Thanks.

I had never tried either of these until we did a special group buy about a month ago. I picked up a puck of the green tea and really like it. It lathers great and is a lot slicker than I thought a non-tallow soap could be. I just received two more pucks of the green tea and one of the provence. Both seem to lather the same but I like the green tea scent better. Right now this is the only soap I have used for the last 3 weeks. Probably won't change until my stick of Irisch Moos comes in.

What a coincidence. I just tried Provence Sante Green Tea shaving soap tonight for the first time. It was a small free sample I received from shavingessentials when I placed an order last week. I was impressed with the extra freebie samples I received with my order. I normally would have just thrown it away since I've had less than satisfying experiences with non tallow based soaps before. But it was free and it smelled great so not expecting much I just gave it a shot for the heck of it. I was very impressed. It was the first time I ever enjoyed a non tallow soap. It had tallow like lather (dense and creamy not fluffy and airy) and was as slick as any vintage tallow based soap I own. The scent was wonderful and the shave was BBS. I will order a full sized puck for my rotation and it will be the only non tallow based soap in my rotation. If I had not known what it was and it was given to me blind, I would have bet it was tallow based. I'm completely impressed by this product. Also, it lathered easier than any soap I've tried yet even easier than my Harris soaps. Thanks shavingessentials for the free sample otherwise I would have never been introduced to this high quality soap. I will try other french soaps after experiencing this one. I think the french mastered veggie based soaps. The English need to find out what the french are doing because I've been unimpressed with the English veggie based soaps. Try this soap you won't be disappointed and at $10 it's a steal.

I also got the PSGT on the group buy, and I find it to be a fantastic soap. The scent is great, especially when the soap is allowed to air out a little. I honestly think the PSGT is worth double what I paid for it. I can't speak for the Pre de Provence on quality, but I think it is a little more expensive. Personally I would go with the Green Tea for that reason alone.

Of the two soap choices given above, my vote goes to Provence Sante. It's a great soap for my tap water and skin type.

Get both, you can't lose. I think the tallow soaps are a little more protective of your face from the blade, but these soaps will just make your skin feel wonderful. The other soaps have always dried my skin so I used all the post shave balms to moisturize again. I don't need to with the shea/glycerin soaps unless I want something that smells and feels good after my shower. I've never had any kind of reaction to the these soaps either. I hope your experience is as good as mine.

Never tried PS because the inclusion of talc puts me off. I will say that PdP is the very best shave soap I've tried out over a dozen, including Trumpers.

I prefer the performance of the Provence Sante over Pre de Provence although they are both really good and differences are minor.

The Provence Sante green tea scent is very very mild. If you like soaps with a strong scent I would consider regular Provence Sante (which is still a pretty mild smelling soap) or the Pre de Provence which is quite fragrant.

Note that the scent strength can be a liability if you end up not caring for the scent. The Pre de Provence scent is pretty unique.

Thanks for all the quick reply gents. I do enjoy both the tallow and non tallow soaps I do have (Tabac, MWF, and Cade). I am leaning towards the PS based on the comments, but I may go the B&B way and get both!

I'd get both although they seem pretty similar from reports.

I've got the Green Tea and its thick and slick and cushiony, a great soap up there with my favorites all ready.
