What's new

Post your pictures and thoughts of Henckels and Friodur straight razors!

I have always been impressed with Henckels and Friodur razors. Recently I acquired a couple of big Henckels blades, both numbered 17 1/2. One only has Henckels on it (blade width 23.5mm) and the other Friodur (blade width 22mm). Both have huge spines measuring about 1/4 inch wide and shave like no other razor.

After reading Ajax's post raving about his Friodur 17, we decided to discuss Henckels and their line of straight razors.
Could Henckels possibly be the best production razor to have been made?

Post photos and impressions of Henckels hardware - lets see what's out there!

Here are my two 17 1/2 razors by Henckels.

Are we talking JUST stainless here (Friodur)? Because I have a Henckels 401 that's not stainless but it is a WONDERFUL shaver! It's definitely one of the smoothest shavers I own

Henckels 415 5/8 that has stayed through all my buying and selling. It's one of the best razors I have come across, takes a very nice edge.

Of my eight straights, my 7/8, Henckels Friodur 17 is my favorite. It takes a scary sharp edge and gives a fantastic shave.
Noah mentioned, in an earlier post, that stainless wasn't all that difficult to sharpen and I have to agree. I think that the harder steel helps prevent over-honing.

Oh I love this thread already. I am also a huge Friodur fan, like some others my #17 is almost as good as it gets!
