Post your blind buys and the results

Most of the time we do our research and make informed purchases. Sometimes while making a purchase we get excited and say what the heck, I'll throw that in my basket or Hmmm, I think I will try that without performing your usual research(A blind buy). I just purchased a number of Perma-Sharp blades and will post my outcome when I receive them. Also some Super-Max Titanium blades just recently showed up in my mail box and will post my thoughts on them also.

So what have you purchased blind and what was the outcome?

100-count Derby Extra blades, same time I ordered my razor, because there was a 5-pack of that brand included with the razor. I had researched razors, but not blades. Outcome: Not bad. The blades are ok. Will use them all if I live long enough.

Three packs of 100-count Astra SP blades, based on the good things written about this blade here at B&B. Outcome: Same as above, but the Astra's are better.

Mitchell's Wool Fat. Happened to be one of those days I guess when there were two or three threads on it and for some reason I had to try it for better or for worse. Outcome: Best gamble I ever made.

EDIT: Maybe the second two weren't strictly speaking blind, but rather on impulse. Reading B&B does that to you, as everyone is aware.

That's everything I own so let's see:

Merkur 34C HD - It's better than any of the multiple cartridge razors I've used and I'm comfortable with it.

5 Derby Blades - Ok, I guess; but nothing special.

eShave products - Orange Sandalwood is awesome. Lime not so much. Quick to lather up too.

Bluebeards Revenge cream/post shave balm - Odd smells but great shaves. The smell grows on you.

TOBS Sandalwood- Nothing bad to say but it does require a bit more water for a good lather (IMO).
