So I've been shaving with a DE for...two or so months now, but straights have always fascinated me. I was looking to get my feet wet in the world of straight razor shaving, but I have absolutely no idea which razor to get...and I need some recommendations. I'm a poor college student (like...monthly income of $400 after tuition and food), so it can't be terribly expensive. I do have my great grandfather's straights...but they're in terrible condition, and I don't even know if they would be salvageable...

I recommend Larry Andro - www.whippeddog.com you will get a cheap and sharp razor from him to try out straights.
Post some pics of those old straights. Might be less work than you think.
I'm curious to see them as well.
