The criss cross stropping notion freaks me out.

Most straights have about a 3 inch blade. I just checked about 10 of mine, and even the big ones are only 1/8 or 1/4 over 3 inches.
If you want something smaller than that you'll have to go with something like a De Pews, which has a 2 inch long blade.

Or a 3" strop.
If you don't want to strop in the X pattern, you need a 3" strop then.
If you don't do at least a little x you might be missing out when the razor is warped and the entire edge doesn't get stropped well.
This thread has me so confused. What's the issue? That a 5/8s blade is less width than 3" strop. Do you have to x-strop with this?
