Please recommend me the best performing brush with creams

I understand that this will certainly come to a lot of personal preference, but if you could name a brush that stands out against the rest in cold hard performance, what would it be? My criteria for performance is exfoliation, standing up of hairs, and the ability to whip up gobs of lather incredibly fast. Luxury is nice, but all I desire is performance. My budget is 150 dollars and under.

what size/kind of knot do you prefer? I am gravitating towards larger knots myself (24/26+mm) creams tend to be easier to lather than soaps.... with your budget you'll have no problem finding the perfect brush for you

I'd recommend a Thater 4125/2 silvertip (runs about $125-130). it's got enough to have a little backbone (Not as much as boars, but more than some of the other badger brushes I have) but I'm not nearly as well versed in brushes as so many others here.

you can always contact some fo the custom brush makers and for that budget get 2 brushes... or maybe even a boar to boot to kill your harder soaps :)

I don't what my preference in size is actually, though my 8 dollar tweezerman brush feels too small. It's the only brush I've used before.

Another vote for Thater. I don't use creams, but I love my 49125 for soft soaps which I would consider similar. It doesn't have the backbone of some of my other brushes, so it doesn't work as well for hard soaps. I use it when I want a real luxury shave. The tips are iimpossibly soft.

+1 on the Thater. I've only had my 4125/2 for a few weeks but it's been hard to put down since then. So soft.

Bingo! it's become my favorite brush (again I've not had Rooney's or Kents etc) but it's just so luxurious. for my hard soaps I use a Semogogue SOC boar (LOTS of backbone, and very comfy - though not Thater comfy)... sometimes I find myself using the Thater for 2nd & 3rd passes even then LOL

do you find yourself just rubbing it along your face without being loaded just for the feel of it? LOL

You can't go wrong with the Thater. Another option is the Rooney series 3, size 3 silvertip brush. It's on sale at vintageblades.com for $149. A slightly cheaper option, but still an excellent, soft brush is the Vulfix 2236 silvertip for $130. The Rooney and Vulfix are both big, beautiful brushes with large handles.

I'm a bit limited in my brush experience but I would try a couple of different grades of badger before diving in for a silvertip. I have an EJ in Super and I find that has become too soft for my liking. I always thought I would end up 'upgrading' to a silvertip but I will be moving to a 'best' or 'pure' grade next as I believe they will give me more of the exfoliation that the OP desires.

If you want backbone and luxury, I would suggest a 2 Band in a bulb shape. The brands listed above sound like they would work very well.

If you want to go the custom route, TGN (the golden nib .com) 2-band ("finest") knots get plenty of praise around these parts. You could then get a custom handle in what ever shape/size you want.

If you aren't fixed on badger, I have a Semogue boar that has lots of backbone and is getting softer with each use. Best of luck, and I'm sure you will find a very very nice brush in your price range.

Kent BK8 tops my list for use with creams

I use a Whipped Dog 24mm badger. It works great with creams and soft soaps. Less than $30 and you can pick out which handle you like.

+1
Even I always imagined that a silvertip would be the ultimate but after using my new Whipped Dog silvertip brush(my only silvertip) I find it too soft for my liking.
My Simpson Berkeley in pure is my go to brush again. I like the 'feel' it has on my face much better.
