Please recommend a radio & cd player

Gents,

Feeling the need for tunes and/ or talk radio with my morning shave.

Please give me your recommendations for a small, battery operated player that can withstand the steamroom-like atmosphere of my shave cave?

Thanks!

I usually shave at night and listen to talk radio while I do so. I've been using a Sony ICF-303, and it's stood up to the humidity levels in the bathroom for a couple years now. It's an AM/FM radio with very good sound for a radio it's size and price (around $20 if I remember correctly). I'm not sure how music sounds on it as I have a surround sound system in the next room, and I usually just turn that up a bit when I want to shave and listen to music. I have radios that sound better for talk radio, like my CCRadio from C. Crane Company, but it's a lot bulkier and more expensive ($150). i don't mind risking the $20 in the humidity, it's more compact and does a good job.

If you want something for music as well and humidity is a concern, you might want to consider a shower radio. Some of the ones I've tried in the past were pretty tinny sounding, but I used to have a Sharper Image shower radio that was pretty good for music. It's no longer on their website but they do have one listed there now for $70 that can work with an iPod. You put the iPod in a wireless dock that can be placed up to 100 feet from the radio. I can't vouch for the sound quality but if it's anything like the radio I used to have it should be adequate, especially for a bathroom radio. Here's a link:

As far as docking the Ipod for a sound system, I'm assuming that uses a radio channel. For me, that simply didn't work. If you live in an urban area (I'm in Chicago), there are only about 2 actual channels that are "clear" and I have found the audio signal to stink. At best, you'll be getting stereo quality (worse than a cd).

As for cd/radios, mine requires an outlet. That said, it has sat on the edge of my sink for almost 10 years and works like a champ. Just make sure to use an exhaust fan when you shower so the humidity doesn't build up and get into the device.

I was thinking more along the lines of a direct connection; no FM transmitter. Much better sound that way. :)
