Please Recommend A Good Travel Kit

I'll be traveling next month and would like to pick up a good travel kit that contains a travel size badger brush and safety razor. Travel size creams and lotions would also be nice. Are there any all-in-one packages out there that you all recommend or should I buy them separately and create my own kit. If the latter, than what items/brands do you all recommend? I currently use a Merkur HD slant bar with Feathers blades and a super badger brush at home along with Proraso creme.

Thank You!

Hi Sammy.

I have been offering one for sale on this sight under buying and selling. Probably around page 14 or 15. Its a 2009' Muhle R41 chrome open comb with a Muhle badger travel brush in its own chrome case. This all fits into a Muhle leather case made in Italy. I am also including a drip stand all for $60 delivered via Priority Mail. The kit was purchased directly from Muhle shipped from Germany. Check it out. Its mint condition.

I've put together my own. I prefer that as a better way to get what you really want in each item; with kits you usually end up with one item you actually want and a bunch you can tolerate.

The best thing for travelling, is a "turnback" brush. A lot of guys skip this and save $30, but getting a turnback is a major :)lol:) plus for me. The king of turnbacks is the Simpson Major, but it's pricey. Vulfix makes a decent one that's a bit floppy, and Kent makes a nice one on the same handle in pure badger that is firmer. Check the review of the Major for more details, but the general idea is an open tube with screw-thread at one end, and the brush handle screws into the thread, either sticking out for lathering, or (turned the other way) inside the tube ... protected from crushing in transit and open to the air to dry.

There are lots of creams out there that are sold in tubes, which are great for travelling. You can pretty much pick your favourite there. If you intend this for carry-on, then you are limited size-wise, but there are still lots of options. Personally, I use Mama Bear soaps for travelling, as they come in a plastic tub that provides lathering space as well. If you prefer face-lathering, you may also want to try a shave "stick". D.R. Harris makes those, and that's where I'd start (and stop) my search for the perfect shave stick.

DE razors ... can't help you, as I'm a straight shaver. But let's face it, even with DEs going the "carry on" route is just asking for hastles. (Oh yeah, I'd never think of trying to get my Grelot through security. :001_huh:)

A smaller (plastic) bottle of Clubman aftershave, a styptic pencil from your local supermarket, and you're done!
