Plating question

If the plating on a chrome SS were to wear off, what color should you find underneath? Serious question, I'm truly puzzled.

I don't want to say but some of you can probably figure out the reason I asking this.

If the nickel plating wears through, you will see the brass of the razor underneath. Hence the term "brassing"

corrosion on brass seems to vary in color.

You can see green (which I believe is the copper part of brass corroding), red (common in musical instruments), and black.

All brass is an alloy of zinc and copper, but there are different percentages as well as other metals added to different types of brass. I'm not at all sure what it is that causes the different colors, but would venture a guess that it is the varying percentages of other stuff that causes it.

tin, iron, aluminum, and lead are all added to different types of brass.
Someone more knowledgeable about what type razors are made from might be able to answer why some turns black.

Well, there's one on eebay now with half the plating gone, and appears solid black underneath. I would expect yellow brass, not this.

You can talk about auctions in general terms, but no linking. It's the spirit of the law not the letter, so you'd be better off not saying something like "search E-bay for Rare Red Wings Sweater" but talking about something wierd or different you saw would be considered just chit chat.

You can link to Buy It Now items, however.

Did you see something that piqued your curiosity?

Look at the middle of both safety bars, see its a yellow'ish almost tarnished gold look?

Oh and yeah I just bought it
