Pinaud Vanilla question

Well it's not a natural vanilla scent, but I do get a strong presence of vanillin or something similar. A scent I am use to after years of research work in food science.

I didn't smell any trace of vanilla. Didn't really care for whatever you would call that scent.

Haha, the "manly/musky" scent? Yea, I don't know what I would call it either - I suppose I would call it "Pinaud" if I ever had to really describe it and just hope that the person I was talking to knew what I meant. I was getting some pretty bad irritation on my neck and alcohol-based splashes seem to dry out that spot on my neck and prevent/get rid of my irritation. I don't know if there are alcohol-based splashes out there that don't even have this "Pinaud" or musky smell. Surely there are, though.

I agree. I get a very floral scent, definitely not vanilla. Maybe a slight honey smell. Its really not musky. It just sort of makes me nauseous. The worst aftershave Ive ever used. I like other Clubman products, but the vanilla is an impostor.

What is your favorite after shave splash? I actually kind of like the Vanilla - so maybe I would like the other Clubman products too?

The vanilla in this AS is a chemical knockoff and even that is used in minute amounts. Most anyone with a sensitive nose will tell you it isnt quite the same as the real stuff you were expecting. But, it doesnt have the knockdown power of other clubman products so I still use mine in winter months.

The Vanilla is badly named. I would give it away, but the postage would be throwing good money after bad. For the life of me, I cannot understand how anyone likes it. I've tried, oh have I tried, but it still makes my eyes water, no matter how little I put on. My wife thinks it stinks, too.

There is no vanilla scent in it as far as I can tell. Real vanilla is a "smooth" and soothing scent, but this one smells like some sort of citrus-based cleaning product.

Here is a response I received directly from the company that makes Pinaud Vanilla:

"Thank you for your email. Vanilla is not part of the ingredients. We add a fragrance that smells like vanilla. Please feel free to call customer service at 323-728-2999, if you have any further questions."

I use it in my rotation. I don't get the vanilla scent but it brings back memories of the old time barbershop when I was a kid. It's almost like I can smell the oil used on the hair clippers mixed with talc.

I've tried the standard Clubman, Bay Rum, Osage Rub and Draggon Noir from Clubman and out of those, you really can't beat the classic Clubman.

In general, my favourite aftershaves are Captain's Choice Bay Rum if I'm splurging, Skin Bracer if I need a cheap day-to-day AS.

Thanks for that

I don't smell a strong vanilla scent but I think its's wonderful. Feels like it has a little bit more bite to it than my all time fave The classic

Like others have said, I don't smell any vanilla in it but it does have a nice scent. It is one of my favorites. I will buy it again.

I put on some Pinaud Clubman Vanilla this morning and my wife, who is due to give birth exactly 3 months from today (yes, a Christmas baby!), and who has been complaining about nearly any scent I have worn for the past 6 months, asked me, "What is that?" I said, "Why do you ask?", and she replied, "Because I like it! That's the one I want you to wear!"
