Pinaud Lilac Vegetal Not for Me.

I recently splurged and purchased quite a few aftershaves based on some reviews/opinions here on the board. One of them was Pinaud Lilac Vegetal. After shaving last night and applying this aftershave it triggered a memory of an unpleasant smell from the local Barbershop my Great Grandfather took me to when I was young. Needless to say after just one use I will be retiring this from my rotation. So the first person who reads this and has NEVER tried this product can PM me and post here and I will mail it to them to see if they like it! This offer is for CONUS only unless the taker wants to pay for shipping...

Thanks,

I'm sorry to read that The Veg hasn't chosen you and many thanks for the kind PIF of your bottle. Someone will be very glad of that (I think )

It's, um...interesting. I generally hate most colognes and perfumes, as they're way too strong. I also dislike alcohol based products. Upon opening the bottle of the Veg, you are greeted with an overpowering whiff of alcohol-based something. The alcohol soon fades away, though, and you're left with...something. Not sure what it is. I don't HATE it, but I don't like it. Or do I? It grows on you. It's something floral. Does it smell like old lady? Is it manly? I really don't know. I'm always terrified of being "that guy" wearing way too much cologne, and I think I'd be very wary of that problem with this product. I've had a couple people smell it, and their reaction was mixed as well. They'll lean in for a sniff, kind of look confused, and lean in again. In the end, they don't know. They can't quite figure out what it is. This will definitely be something I try out for a bit, before forming a final opinion about. Most colognes I can tell you within 4 seconds whether I hate or not (and usually I do hate it).

I'm wondering about trying it. I seem to be similar to you in what I like and don't like. Let me know what you think after a few uses.

Chris, that is pretty cool that you tried it, didn't like it, then sent it along. VERY cool.

Sadly, in accordance with California law, you now have to purchase a Cooper Mini convertible. Since you weren't chosen.

Sorry man.

It seems that the Veg is REALLY dependant on body chemistry. Never had anything but compliments with it on my skin. My wife accidentally got some on her though and it smelled horrible. So it's not just dependant on sense of smell. The person it's going on matters a whole lot.

I've had a bottle for awhile. The 1st time I used it, definitely got the cat pee scent, and put it aside. Yesterday, I decided to give it another chance. I didn't like the initial scent, but it grew on me. Definitely a strong scent, as I noticed a few people looking around, wondering where that scent was coming from. And I liked the scent.

Am I chosen- I'm not sure. However, I will be wearing the Veg again today and more often to see if we were meant for each other. Otherwise- it will be PIF'd.

Credit to you for PIF'ing it. I personally can't think of anyone I dislike enough that I'd want to hurt them in that manner. ;)
