Afternoon all!
First of all, thank you to each and every one of you for taking the time to read this. I'm going to be doing 2 PIF's, for beginner shavers and another for everyone else. This one, as the title reads, is for the beginner shavers. Someone who's newer to the hobby, perhaps been on the forums 4 months or less, and has made at least... 3 posts. (Only so we know you aren't just going to pop by with an intro, take advantage of this and then vanish.)
I also must say conus only. I HATE to cut out everyone OCONUS, but with shipping costs, i must at this time. So sorry. (I'll try to build up an oconus PIF for you all after I run these 2)
I'm sure some of you have read a few of my other posts regarding my home situation (Shooting) and an injury messing up my .mil career. So I'm going to warn you, I will do my best to ship this promptly, but reserve the right to take at least 2-3 days handling time from the end of the time allotted for the PIF.
This PIF will begin as soon as it's posted, and will end at 8:00pm EST on August 15, 2012. I feel 5 days is a good amount of time since it includes the weekend for everyone to get a good look, or to point their friends to it. Remember this is a beginners lot, so if you've got a ton of stuff already, I'm not going to say don't get in on this, but be mindful of others!
In order to enter, simply reply to this thread with an "I'm in!" and after it ends, I'll pull up random.org and beginning with Post #2, will proceed to pull a number. If that number matches a reply from a person who is taking part in the give away, then they are the lucky winner. If it matches someone who's just stopping by the comment, then I'll pull another number until we have a solid winner. No coming close, we'll get someone set up!
Now, the contents of the PIF which I'm sure you're all dying to see.
1. Gillette Black Beauty super adjustable DE razor. P3 dated (3rd Q of 1970). This razor was polished by the previous owner and thus has plate loss. However it HAS been soaked in barbicide and wiped down.)
2. Van der Hagen pure badger brush from a luxury shave set. (Used to test lather only a few times. I still recommend a good cleaning before use for safeties sake.)
3. Unopened package of 5 Astra superior Platinum Blades
4. Unopened package of 10 Feather blades
5. Unopened package of 5 Derby Blades
6. 5 other blades I had around from a sampler, still sealed. (Gillette 7 O'clock green SS, Gillette Goal Stainless, Gillette Nacet Stainless, BIC, Blue Bird)
7. Mike's Natural Soaps Barber Shop sample, Unused
8. Mike's Natural Soaps Lavandin & Eucalyptus sample, Unused
9. Mama Bears Lemon Rose sample, Unused
10. Bald Frog Soaps Arabian Hooka sample, Unused
11. Mystic Water Soaps Coconut sample, test lathered once
12. Mama Bears shave stick Sandalwood Vanilla, test lathered once into my hand, otherwise never touched
13. Edwin Jagger Facial Exfoliant sample
14. Queen Charlotte Soaps Lemon Bergamot shampoo bar
15. Nivea Sensitive post shave balm, Unused (Cap is broken, check the pictures)
As you can see, I've included pretty much everything to get you started except a bowl. You even get a shampoo bar to start your addiction there. Most of this lot is brand new unused or just tested as you can see from the list. I think it's a great lot. Heck I think it's enough to keep someone going for months while still trying out all the combinations. This is all top quality stuff in my opinion from many of the artisans here on the board, and by some of the companies who have been doing it the longest!
So, with all of that said, good luck to all of you. I hope someone enjoys it all. And here are some pictures of the lot.
Edited to add: #15 is a late addition. I just found it under my sink. It's a new, unused bottle of Nivea sensitive ASB. The cap as you can see, is broken, but not in a way where it leaks. Just appearance. I have 2 of these already so no use for a 3rd, so it's all yours! Pictures of this item are further down in a reply as I can only have 5 pictures per post.
