I have been using Photoshop 5 for a while. Its buggy, sticky and fat.

I have a new Laptop and need to get something, what others are available? Adjusting levels, temps ect are required uses.

I have been using the GIMP for years. Free, open source, and it can probably do anything you need.

If you are running windows Paint.net is worth a look. You may need to get some plugins to do everything you want but it is free.

I use Paint Shop Pro. I just upgraded to Ultimate Photo X2 and love it.

I have tried both of these and liked them. The GIMP seems to be as capable as Photoshop, but it seems a bit difficult or involved to learn. Great program though.

I like GIMP also plus there are plenty of forums and tutorial videos available on the web.

Gimp works great. I use Photoshop CS4 but no need really, Gimp does just about everything you would need.
