I completely forgot my earlier post and loaded up a Perma-Sharp in one of my Athenas... I have to say... the Perma-Sharp restored my faith in both the Athena and myself. It was a stellar shave, if I do say so myself.

I think one could cut a tin can lid into a rectangle with a pair of diagonal cutters, stuff that into an Athena and it would shave well. I'm waiting for Theo to come out with his next batch of TI Athenas. Outstanding razor

It might even do well with my Henson RK blades!

Theo is making me a special serial number Ares... I'm looking forward to getting that email.... Your razor is ready for payment and shipment.

Remind me why I would buy a razor manufacturers branded blade with such a selection
of other blades?
Because DE blades aren't a walled garden anymore and if they have their own blades to package with their razors, they can fool a few newbs into believing they need their blades for the their razor(like carts). In all honesty, they seem to think that they know best because they designed the razor, but they forget that every face is different(which is why we want a large selection of blades).

All true! That's how I see it as well.
A money grab!
The only branded blades I've had are ones included with a razor.
And honestly, I've never tried any of them!
I stick to what I know works for me and won't venture off with a blade that I know
is some rebranded thing!

After using the Timor SS DE blade in my Wolfman and Athena a couple shaves ago, I decided to see if I still preferred the Perma-Sharp in the Wolfman like I did in my Athena. I didn't mind the Timor in the WR2 0.95, but I still prefer the sharper (to me, at least) blade in the WR2. I'm glad I didn't buy a ton of Tmor blades. I think they might work well in the R41 when I get around to it.... I would say.... They seem to be close to the Wizamets for me.... a little less sharp than the Perma-Sharps and Nacets... but very smooth. I'm still a bit puzzled why they didn't get along with the Athena.... but not puzzled enough to try one again. I have too many other blades that are excellent in the Athena.

I will be getting those 200 Schick DE German blades on Monday... I hope I see the same results as Aaron and Larry... Time will tell.

All the other gear remained the same, but I am trying to get a photo taken every shave... It's much easier if I do it before I shave and clean up.

I rearranged my work hours.... I'm taking a couple hours off in the afternoon... 2-4, as it's a slow time for food deliveries. I seem to be working toward shaving every other day now... On the off days, I'm doing some light weight training so my arthritis doctor doesn't scold me. I find, I can exercise my arms, chest, etc. when lying prone on a 4 foot long/6 inch in diameter, without hurting my back. I've able to keep up with the weight training every other day since the end of July... Shaving every other day? It's still a work in progress... but it's getting better.

So this afternoon, I had a wonderful shave with my Timeless hybrid 0.68OC (scalloped bronze cap, OC titanium base plate and titanium Crown handle)... inspired by Mark / @BigAlVista . I was mixing stainless steel and titanium Timeless parts... but Mark gave me the idea to try bronze.... It makes for a stunning looking razor, esp. with a bronze razor stand.
