Personna Platinum question

I have a question about 2 different Personna Platinum blades that I have purchased. I know from what I've read on this forum that there is still a lot of debate out there about these blades, but maybe someone can shed some light on this for me.

I purchased these Personna Platinum (Red Pack Personnas) Pack of 10

at bullgoose shaving and loved them. They were not in red wrappers or packaging, but according to the page they are the same blades.

Then I purchased these Red Personna Israeli Double Edge Razor Blades (100 Blades)

at West Coast Shaving expecting them to be the same.

These blades did not shave anywhere near the same. I loved the ones I purchased at bullgoose, but did not enjoy the shave near as much on the ones I purchased at West Coast shaving. They tended to nick me more and was not near as comfortable of a shave either. Does anyone have any clue as to why? Are the ones from bullgoose really another type of Personna and not the reds? Both blades look exactly the same and both say "Platinum Chrome".

The red wrapper was dropped a long time ago, but it doesn't seem like we're able to move on to calling them Personna Platinum Chrome, Personna PC or PPC anytime soon. How many have you used from the WCS purchase? The first thing I thought of was quality control issues (which isn't common for Personna blades, from what I can tell), but if you've gone through more than a 5-pack that would rule it out in my opinion.

Do a blind testing, and use several blades to eliminate chances of a QC issue. That's the only way you'll know for sure. These blades are supposed to be the same. Also, the RPs (in the red pack) are generally considered to be very good blades. So maybe you got a dud.

Thanks for the info. So at least I know that they "should" be the same blade. I have only used 1 blade, so maybe it was a quality issue. I might try one out of a different pack. I just didn't figure it was a quality issue because it shaved so completely different. Maybe it's just a dud.

The Platinum Chromes you bought from Bullgoose are my daily blades (but I buy them from the UK). They are very smooth indeed.

It's silly to call them "reds", IMHO ... it only leads to confusion. I like "PPC", and I'll adopt that abbreviation
