What's new

Personna packs

I grabbed a few packs of personna blades from my local "99cents only" store in concord calif.today...a couple of months ago the same packs had "made in usa" written on the back...these don't.....the red pack says stainless steel and the blue pack says "comfort coated"..the blades look identical.....the "good sense" blades look different, have a georgia address, and different blade markings...no country of origin...with these personnas @ 99cents a 5pak , I have been getting 3-4 shaves...

Looks to me like the comfort coated have a copyright date on the back of 2004 the red pack of 2009. Just old stock from the wharehouse maybe?

The US is fairly strict on country of origin (i.e. if they were totally from another country they would have to mark it), to the extent that DG or FD had stickers added with the new country of origin when it changed.

Not to say that Dorco and ASR both have been known to transfer partially finished product between plants, potentially to take advantage of country of origin. With Dorco this has been with non-DE blades. They have a joint venture on the Mexican border by San Diego..... We know less about ASR....

I emailed geiss, destin and dunn company ,the owners of goodsense blades, and inquired as to the manufacturing country of origin...I received a reply from TERESA,in the pr dept, and she assured me goodsense blades are made in the u.s.a....I was surprised ! I also thought they were dorcos..SO ! who in the u.s. could be doing this work ? are they american personnas with different inking?

Dorco has a joint venture on the border with Mexico. I did not know they were trying to say that their DEs could be "Made in USA," but I would say it is possible. ASR sued them a couple of years ago for copying their trade style and dress, I believe.

Also, they were accused of improperly noting the country of origin, I believe.

Also, Pauldog contacted them and they confirmed repacking DEs for Kmart and Family Dollar.

I wrote about it a couple of years ago:

Since that time, there has been a ruling that putting incorrect patent numbers on products (even if it is your company's patent) can be punished by a per item penalty.......
