Personna Labs Blue

Hi everyone, I've been using Personna Lab Blue blades for a while and always end up coming back to them after sampling something different. My only gripe with them is that I don't like the first shave with a new blade. Any tips on how to get that 2nd shave feeling from a new blade?

Any other blades you can think of that mimic the feel of that second shave when new?

try corking your blade. get a cork and carefully run the sharp edges of the blade across the cork. One time each side should do it.

Or the edge of a styrofoam cup if you're like me and don't have any corks around the house.

You can try palm stropping. This involves gently rubbing the edge of the blade against the heel of one hand, opposite to the cutting direction. Repeat several times and then do the same on the other side. No need to press hard, gentle is best.

I use Lab Blues and don’t have that experience. I like the first shave the best and feel the blade degrades with each subsequent shave. Rarely get 3 shaves, usually toss after two.

I had a very similar experience with my new Lab this AM! My approach is use the blade (which delivered a fine 9/10 shave in the end). And LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT SHAVES which should be substantially better!!

This must be the old YMMV. I usually can get a week or more from one (7+ shaves)! It depends on the razor to some extent.

I haven't heard of Lab Blues needing to be corked/stropped. But if you feel it's needed, the above ideas all work. I like the palm strop best because you only need your own hand.

First shave for me was so utterly horrible that I vowed to never use one again. My face felt like I had used a belt sander.
