Penworks Shedding

I ordered two penworks brushes a little while ago. One was the 22-2 which I love for soaps and the other was a Silvertip.

The Silvertip has started shedding for me. Last night it shed about or 4 hairs and it does approx the same every other time I shave. I called up tony and he advised me to give it a good wash, comb and blow dry out which I did and if the problem persisted to give him a call.

I'm typically storing the brush out in the open with the bristles up. I've stored all my brushes this way and it doesn't seem to be a problem with any of the others.

I feel like it's operator error but I know many of you love your penworks. Has anyone here experienced anything similar with his brushes? Am I doing something wrong?

Sometimes a new brush is going to shed hairs. Not just from Penworks, any brush. If the shedding keeps up for several weeks it's time to think about whether you have a shedder on your hands.

I wouldn't get concerned about loosing four or five hairs every shave in the first week of use.

Happens with all brands of brushes....that it why it is important to buy from a reputable vendor who stands behind their products like penworks.

Well I don't have any of his brushes,but I do have 3 of his chinese knots.They have approximately the same rate of hair loss as you are experiencing.Even after a year so don't be suprised if it doesn't stop.I have one of his UK knots on the way and hope the minor shedding issues are confined to the lesser expensive knots.Even at that i am planning on getting a few more knots from him cause they feel so darn good.

I bought one of his Chinese knots as well about 5 weeks ago and it sheds a few hairs every time i use it, but for the sweet price, quality and service, it's still a fantastic brush

My STR1-22 is doing well. In the first week it did shed about 10 hairs, but nothing noticable since then. Certainly it does not lose four on every shave.

I got a 20mm Silvertip A from Tony and it's great only shed about 3-5 hairs the first couple of uses, since then haven't lost a one that I've noticed.
