The Penhaligon's winter sale was pointed out in the Shopping and Deals forum. Thought I'd point out here in the cologne forum that

their scent library is on sale for $15,

the "Mini Him Collection" which contains Gentlemen's box of four 5ml Eau de Toilette miniatures. Contains: Endymion, Blenheim Bouquet, English Fern and Quercus is on sale for $25

and the Gentleman's Fragrance Collection which contains Selection of 5 x 5ml miniature fragrances for him; includes Blenheim Bouquet, English Fern, Quercus, Opus 1870 and Endymion is on sale for $22.50

Not sure why anyone would choose the "Mini Him" collection over the "Gentleman's Fragrance Collection." I ordered the set of five to see what all the fuss is about.

Shipping was $12 to Atlanta. Hated to pay that without ordering more to ease the shipping hit, but didn't want to order anything else until I'd sampled the scents. And since I had considered ordering this at full price, I'm still way ahead.

Better yet, pick up the Blenheim Bouquet collection for $55!!! includes shave cream and aftershave balm in the standard 150ml sizes. A steal if you ask me.

Of all the 5ml mini's I've gotten from other companies none ever had atomizers as most of them were splashes. I'm assuming these are splash bottles as well.

PS If you need any accessories for fragrances (ie. atomizers, etc.) checkout http://accessoriesforfragrances.com/ - I order my supplies from them and the lady that runs it is a sweetheart. Highly recommended!

Just went throught the process of ordering the 5 frag Gent's Collection ($22.50) and the 50ml Douro ($40).

Went through the checkout process and got to this shipping quote:

Sub Total $62.50
Delivery $45.00
Canada Standard delivery surcharge for
hazardous goods (261505A,09X002) $32.50
Total Order Value (Inc. VAT) $140.00

Yes indeed, my $62.50 order (reasonable for the goods) is jacked up to $140.00 (in US funds, keep in mind).

As a side-note: shouldn't they be crediting non-EU buyers the Value Added Tax? I understand this to be 19%.

That's when I hit the cancel button.

I have always wondered why they overcharged the shipping expenses. Penhaligons, Floris and Czech & Speake (and similar houses) charges 20-25£ to ship from the UK to Sweden. The actual cost and in line with what other UK based sites charge is 5-7£.

At the same time most of these places offers free UK shipping so why are they so uninterested in international buyers? You can always find these at other UK shops for 15£ less international shipping.

I went through and read everything....

The "Hazardous Goods Charge" only applies to orders placed with next-day or two-day shipping.

"A Hazardous goods surcharge of $32.50 will be added to all Next Day and Second Day deliveries on all orders containing hazardous goods (Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum and After Shaves)."

So unless you absolutely need it tomorrow or something (which would be perfectly understandable!), just opt for the standard shipping and your price will drop quite a bit!
