Pen leakage

im just wondering if anyone here has any tips for me regarding my scheaffer school pen leaking ink into the cap. could it be me or is it the pen ?

im not rough on it. but it does get carried in my pocket all day. always nib up. could it be when i sit down ?

i know this seems obvious but i have no idea.

it also gets sat on its side when im taking a break from writing.

im not sure if im going to be online this weekend but if not ill check it out monday its friday here.

Hey bud, I'm willing to bet its from being against your body all day. As it heats up from your body heat, the air inside expands and causes it to "burb" leaking into the cap. Laying on its side should pose no problems.

I had this same problem with two different fountain pens, a Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 and a Conklin Victory reproduction. Two entirely different types, same problem, ink leaking into the cap.
One day in a meeting I noticed I had the habit of tapping the cap end on the table in front of me, spin it 180 degrees, tap it again, spin 180 degrees, tap, spin, tap, spin, tap, etc.
I broke myself of the habit and rarely had the problem again.:001_cool:

also the problem has stopped since my proper skrip carts arrived from germany. the cart that it came with was like a 17HMR with out the rim
i havnt even changed the way i carry it

Good, you probably had a bad seal. Remember that any tiny air bleed upstream of the nib/feed will let ink flow.

A fountain pen is just a controlled leak.
