Pelikano Junior converter?

I am considering a Pelikano Junior Fountain. I have been using the Pilot Varsity and they work great for my job. I am a little rough on them, even busted a couple in the beginning. I am to the point that I would like to start get something that is refillable so I can use a few different inks. But it also needs to be rugged enough to deal with me, and it needs to have a non metallic body. And with its bright plastic body(and the cheap price), I was thinking about the Pelikano Junior. But is there a converter for this model. I know it has cartridges, but I was would like to use a variety of colors. Also, is it possible to change out the nib, I would like to use a fine nib, but that is not really that much of a concern. And thanks for the help.

I understand it is a student pen, but it seems to 'fit' my needs. Looks like it is a softer plastic so it is less likely to shatter when it might get caught in a piece of equipment, bright color to make it more visible when it is dropped(and it will get dropped) in some of the dark crevices I work in, and it is relatively inexpensive so if it does get damaged or lost, I'm not out to much. Is there a better choice for me? Or is the the best option for me until I can change my work to a less destructive position? And I can deal with the nib, that is more of a preference than anything else.

Hey, don't get me wrong! They are great pens, especially for $10.95 or whatever. Practically bombproof and yet great writers.

I love mine, especially the place where I can insert my name or a short message!

For a rugged, carry-anywhere pen, I really like the Kaweco Sport. It uses standard international cartridges (no converter), but it just takes a smidgen of silicone grease on the threads to convert it to a large capacity eyedropper pen. I throw mine into my jeans pocket along with keys and change, and it's never lost a drop of ink or shown any problems. It's also a very nice, smooth writer.

I signed my Christmas Cards using the Pelikano. Converted to bulb filler, and custom ground the nib.

Pelikano Jr is a great writer, but the cap on mine cracked within 6 months. Lots of duct tape to hold it together. I work in agriculture though so perhaps it is the wrong pen to be carrying on a tractor.

Pelikano Jr is a good pen and the old ones you could change out the nib, I am not sure if that is the case with the now ones.
I'll try and check.
what do you mean by converter?

What I mean by converter is that ni want to be able to use bottled ink instead of the prefilled ink cartridges. Black and blue are fine, but wanted to have greater variety. What it really boils down to for most of my purchasing decisions is that I wnt to decide what I use. I don't like the idea of having limited options. One of the first things I do when I purchase things that can be customized is to find ways to make them distinctively mine. And with fountain pens, your choice of ink is one of the simplest ways to start going about that.

yes they definitely have converter for the Pelikan pens, I have a tin of cartridges that you can fill yourself.

Quick photo of the ones I have, the top two are for Pelican pens, the bottom one is for a Lamy

Why not the Platinum Preppy. Goulet will convert it to eyedropper fill for just $2. Bringing the grand total to $5.50. They also come in Extra Fine.

Took a look at it and it likes it is the hard plastic that I am trying to avoid. This will take plenty of abuse. But all of you have given me the information I have been looking for.

Thanks,
Luke

Good point, but at that price, it seems to me easy to replace if said abuse leads to fatal injury. Also, the Hero pens are quite attractive, and almost literally, a dime a dozen.
