Palmindaya Menthol aftershave

Palmindaya Brasil, makers of the fantastic ,and very potent ,eucalyptus-menthol shaving cream in a big blue plastic jar , also put out a nice aftershave.Packaged in a cheezy plastic squeeze bottle,it has a low alcohol content, and a low menthol content as well. The scent is very light, maybe like the scent of a dinner mint with a drop of menthol on it.Non stinging,it is soothing, thanks to the glycerine content. All in all, cheap, but effective.

Wow, havent seen it anywhere here in Sao Paulo. Nice find!
.....Strange to us here, because usually things are countrywide in America.Perhaps in your area of Brasil you can get the excellent Campos do Jordao cream and aftershave, not available in most of Brasil...

Malocchio, that's a very interesting AS, but one ingredient really turns me off: Triclosan.

I don't understand the obsession with trying to make everything in our lives germ-free, and I believe that the widespread use of Triclosan does a disservice to our own bodies by not inoculating them regularly so that our immune system will know how to respond. Not that I'll be in Brazil anytime soon, but if I were I'd steer clear of this because of that ingredient.

Now, of course all of the above is simply my opinion, and outside of that ingredient it looks like a fine AS. YMMV, as we say here...

I agree with you 100%.....the alcohol alone is enough to disinfect the face, triclosan is not needed, just as formaldehyde is not needed in most every toothpaste, and aspartame is not needed in almost every damn thing you pick up lately.Even scarier is the "embedding" of triclosan in clothing, especially socks.

So what are the "must-get" shaving creams, AS or blades to get in Brasil?

Really, the creams in Brazil that I have had the extreme pleasure of trying are Brut, palmindaya tube and tub,Bic (2 kinds) ,Bozzano (3 kinds),Nasca Ravor and Campos do Jordao, and I can heartily recommend all of them. If I had to choose one out of all these,I would go with the 700 gram blue tub of Palmindaya. It is unique among creams, very rich, and very vibrant in scent,it reminds me of the old Noxema products, there is no other cream that has it's scent.Great blade glide as well...Blades I can't say yet,I have only tried the Lamix, and it was so-so,I wrote a piece on it a few years ago.I am currently trying out my 2nd Brazilian blade (actually made in India) called Super Barba, and the first shave with it (and Palmindaya "blue" ) was spectacular.I will shave with it until it tugs, then report my findings on it's longetivity.

As far as I know, only in Brazil .

My favorite is BIC refresh (green). It can be beaten only by indian Godrej shaving creams. I even used BIC refresh without brush once or twice and got excellent shaves.

For aftershaves check out excellent ZOG aftershave balm and gel made by Betulla cosmeticos. I bought them because of the name (was always a fan of King Zog) but it became my daily use product. I even keep them in stock, because they are not always available and difficult to find (for paulistanos - Sumiré cosmeticos carries them).
