I recently bought a bottle of this classic Irish whiskey. I have to say that I am somewhat disapointed. I had high hopes since Paddy contains a high percentage of malt whiskey. Other popular blends like Jameson and Tullamore Dew contain pot still whiskey instead of malt in their blends. I guess I like the pot still part a bit better. Paddy is a bit 'sharp' and not as mellow as either Jameson or Tullamore Dew. Any opinions on this whiskey? Is it popular in Ireland or the US?

It's one of the most popular and cheapest in Ireland. Nobody really buys it to savour the taste if you know what I mean.
We actually don't get it here in the U.S. However, they are shipping a limited amount stateside after the first of the year leading up to St. Patrick's Day.
I too find I prefer pot still to malt in my Irish whiskey. It's a more traditional style of Irish.
