Our eyes are the best thing we'll ever possess

David Noton, a british landscape photographer said that. And me being an amateur photographer believe in such stament a lot.

Well I think I scored big time, it was a bit of luck and a bit of certainty. When I first saw the picture on the bay, I noticed something promising, so I waited and waited until the last 6 seconds to put my bid. And I won, after a couples of days tedious wait I got her, and confirmed my suspicions.

Here's the original picture, please take a good look at the original picture and try to guess what it is.

Did you do it?? yes, no? well here she is!

Not bad huh? speacially for 26 pounds, when she first arrived had a lot of gunk and the case was full of lint.
Now I'm wondering about the razor, In Achim's site they come with a New Improved I.E: Gold Bostonian, but not a Tuckaway... and also what about the silver bands? I wonder if they were added to prevent the razor from cracking? because they were factory made, they're a single ring, not welded together.

Also the head is different on the base it's ornated but not on the top.

The date code is 743121A

I'm really happy with it, this for me is one of the mos beautiful sets ever made.

By the way, when I saw the brush and soap holders on the orig. Picture, noticed some lines, I carefuly check on the blade holders and they were there too. I was like "well it better be" and it was!!

PS: the case was stamped only with the Gillette logo, it didn't say Cavalier or traveller or anything like that, I thought it was a bit unusual too.

I noticed the fatter handle and thought you had scored a bulldog.
Nice score on the Cavalier accessories! Not sure what's up with that razor though. We need more pics or explanations. You mean that it comes apart like a single ring, with inner shaft and all?

Thanks, I think I saw a tuckaway like that once last year, someone posted a picture, but I might be wrong.
No the razor is a normal Tuckaway, those 2 rings are parts of the razor. I have checked with a magnifying glass and are made of a single piece, not sure if they were added after the razor was made, although I would say so, because there is no "Pat Jan 13 1920 U.S.A." as on my silver Tuckaway.

Here's a picture of the handle.
I would say this razor was dropped a few times, and some of the silver finish is gone.

Certainly a stunning looking set. I love the Tuckaway- I think they shave better than any other razor that I've tried. Great pick up at a fantastic price. There are deals out there but you have to keep your eyes peeled.

Remarkable score! Great that these types of wonderful sets are still available. The price was great -- but the set is worth whatever you would have paid. Good work!

I worry a little bit for your eyes, because you'll be squinting at every razor head you see, looking for cavalier engraving.

Well done. It's one of the most beautiful sets, no question. I wish you good fortune at finding the elusive razor that will complete it.
