Opinions please... Thayers Aftershave Witch Hazel Astringent with Organic Aloe Vera

proxy.php

I was thinking about getting this to use maybe instead of my alum bar.
My skin is quite oily & also fairly sensitive. It contains 20% alcohol & I'm wondering if this stuff is worth it. There is a very limited range of Thayers stuff available in the UK, so I'd like opinions on this product please.

My daily aftershave for going on four years. I throw in Superhazel now and then, also 20% alcohol. My skin is oily and sensitive, and this tightens up the pores nicely without being harsh. It is also lightly scented and so doesn't interfere with fragrance if you wear EdT or cologne. It's a bargain to boot and I will never be without it in my den.

Thanks for the reply.
I assume it's just meant to be used as a splash, not applied with a cotton wool pad or anything?

I did not try that one but the unscented, rose and lemon are the ones I tried. Overall, excellent witch hazel and they are awesome as aftershaves. I use them like a splash.

Any of the Thayer WH products are good. If you read the labels I apply it like a splash all over my face and neck. In fact, I use WH before I retire at night and then apply a moisturizer after that. If you read the labels the Lavender and Rose Petal Thayers, my two favorites, also contain aloe vera.

I use it as a splash. I don't see why it would be a problem to apply with a cotton ball or pad. I use other witch hazels in the evening as toners, but the aftershave has 20% alcohol vs. 0% or 10% in their standard witch hazels, and it is not, IMO, a great toner. It is, though, a tremendous aftershave.

I've been using the alcohol free Cucumber applied with a cotton ball or pad. Nice cooling and refreshing. Cucumber scent also goes great with TOBS Avocado.

I use that version of Thayers every morning, it soothes, calms and moisturises my skin better than anything else I've tried. I also like the Thayers Rose and WH, nice way to treat your skin after a hard day at the office too. :tongue_sm

Splash it on and all's sweet.

HINT: Don't peel the seal off the top of the bottle, just make a small hole in it with the point of a knife/nail file/fork etc. makes it easier to pour.

I use the unscented, the lavender, and my favorite, the SuperHazel. Wonderful products.
+1. Precisely what he said. Superhazel is wonderful to use post shave. I also use the unscented and recently killed a bottle of Lavender as well. Sometimes I rinse it off before applying AS and sometimes I don't. Usually because I forget.

The little green label bottle is almost a daily go to for me, have always found it to work as well as anything else I have tried.

I've used alcohol based aftershaves my whole life, but my face couldn't take this one. It was like splashing acid on my face. I must have had a reaction to something besides alcohol, because even Superior 70 with 65% alcohol doesn't bother me.

I use either thayers medicated or thayers lemon witch hazel after every shave. I let it dry and then apply my aftershave. I feel the witch hazel just helps with the tightening of the pores after the shave. Personnel note.....I have normal skin

Possibly aloe vera. Despite the fact that it shows up in so many skin care products, it's a fairly common skin allergen.
