I love the stuff but wife hates it. The scent is a true love or it hate it as it reminds me of burnt wood but wife thinks it smells of burnt tires. Works great for dry scalp also. If you are married I would say no. Chicks dont dig it.
I'm a pine tar fan but have been taking the etsy route (more than 1 vendor), not Grandpa's. Sweetcreek makes a pine tar/emu bar (nicer to winter skin). PS not all girls hate this. If she like inscense and woody fragrances (like black afgano or dk black cashmere) she may like pine tar.
My choice in bath soaps has evolved from Yardley's then to Dr. Bronner's and now I have exclusively been using Grandpa's Pine Tar Wonder Soap. Yardley's has many great scents, and while Dr. Bronner's has some moisturizing oils in their soaps, it is a castile soap and the small trace amounts of oils just doesn't do the job in protecting the skin & scalp from dry, winter weather.
I use Grandpa's on skin and hair followed with an Apple Cider hair rinse. My wife loved Dr. Bronner's and after comparing the two for several weeks, has changed over to Grandpa's. While the smell can be gotten used to, there is no substitute for how it leaves the skin feel. It also rinses off very clean with no residue.
