Old Spice Mug

Do the Old Spice mugs have any collectibility other than they are kind of neat. I picked one up today in an antique store for $7.00. I liked the looks of it.

Just wondering,

I'm not sure, really. I know some of the older ones are worth a bit more than the others. There's a sort of crude looking fired ceramic one or something that's worth a bit more than the others.

I love them. I collect them because, aside from a double edge razor and brush, they're the most noticeable "symbols" of wetshaving. At least in my opinion.

That was kind of my thoughts, I just thought it looked cool. Plus a puck looks like it would fit right in there.

I've got a NIB pre WWII mug. It's got the wood veneer on the box that came from Japan. That's worth a little bit of change, if you use Ebay as a guide.

There are salesman's samples and other rare variations, but your garden variety OS mug is simply a really neat piece of wet shaving history that is at home either as a displace piece or as a working mug in your den.

I agree with David...Nothing says "traditional shaving" like an Old Spice mug, outside of a razor and brush.

I have several of them including one example of the old ceramic mug. They look great, they are easy to hold, and they are relatively plentiful. My main interest in them lies in the fact that they were manufactured in my hometown of Millville, NJ by Wheaton Glass. Wheaton also produced most of the glass Old Spice after shave and talc bottles.

I've got five of the shaving mugs, all of them a little different, including one with an unused puck of the Old Spice soap in it; that one was made in Belgium. I plan to try the soap fairly soon. Also one larger mug that they made which was apparently meant to be a coffee mug, although I've used it as a regular shave mug.

They are "kind of neat", and some people think it's a must to have at least one. I wouldn't say that, but I like having them.

o-s-m-a-d!

If somebody forms a band, that would be a fine name.

I'm always looking for a mug, and every once in awhile they show up ridiculously cheap, in with the coffee mugs at a thrift store.

One of these days I'll get one of the blue or black ones. I've got a Belgian mug, and another with the Canadian bilingual markings. The flag on the ship has a cross rather than the stars and stripes!

They are fun to find, admire and use.
