Old Spice Bottles...Questions

Found these in an antique/junk place the other day. I know by the Old Spice collectible web site about how old each one is. The aftershave bottle is almost full. One of the colognes has about 1/4 in it, and the talc I can't tell. Of course, it is a powder and will not shake.

I wore some of the aftershave, cologne, and talc on one particular day last week. Wow, talk about overkill. I felt like Pig Pen in Peanuts, only the cloud following me was an Old Spice fog.

My questions are: how long does the scent stay good on the A/S or the cologne? What is the talc good for? Can the tops be removed for washing out? If not, how would I refill them with some of one of the knock offs?

Thanks for any info.

Wash 'em out and replace with knock-offs...

The AS and Cologne might stay good for many decades if kept in a cool dry place. If they were in the sun or an area that heated and cooled, it could go stale.

The talc is for taking the shine off after shaving, and also gives some comfort the neck of a tie wearing guy.

If you are going to ditch any of this stuff, in particular the talc, please let me know, I use it!

EDIT: The Pig-Pen cloud might be from classic OS over-application.

You can get a little funnel at the Body Shop (it comes with the atomizer) and I think you can get them at Sephora too.

If you want to drain the bottles and refill them, please decant the old juice and put it up on the BST. Like Topgumby said, there are people who would love to have it--and would certainly give you enough to cover a couple of bottles of new stuff. But you might want to give them a chance before you do it. The old juice is stronger, but a careful application will be rewarded with a great feeling all day.

Great find! I am jealous. Just back off on your application like Nid suggested and you will love the lesser "cloud" that follows you. It's awesome stuff, so use it sparingly and make it last. If it still smells strong, it must have been stored well, so I would use what you have instead of dumping it or selling it. The talc is great, too and I've never found a bottle of it that has gone bad. It's nice to put on your chest or neck; just do not over-apply as it leaves a dusty residue if dumped on heavily. The talc scent lasts all day just like the AS/Cologne. You've got the real thing, here. Use it and love it.

Great Find & If it smells good use it that's what I've been doing with out any problems.
Also for filling bottles I've found the small ear wax removers for baby's are great for the smalls holes in the O/S bottles. I pour out what I'm transferring into a small juice glass and then suck it up and inject it into the o/s bottle.

I should clear things up. I really wasn't thinking about just pouring the stuff down the drain. I wanted to wash out the empty bottles as I used them. I was wondering which product best matches the original, the New Old Spice or one of the knockoffs.

I have used the aftershave the last couple of days in more moderation.

This is the scent I remember my dad wearing as I was growing up. It brings back alot of great memories of him. I think the A/S scent is probable still good, I guess it just seems to smell differently when I'm wearing it.

I've spent the last few gray, bleak days staring out the window at the driving rain, contemplating the meaninglessness of existence, on the edge of a precipice before a vast, yawning void.

With this new post the the sun shines and the birds sing again.

Use it in good health, sir!
