Old razors-what are they?

So...I am not an old razor geek. Grandfather who was 98 died, got these in a box. Help me ID.

Non-adj has a LT
black adj has a 03
chrome adj has a EL or EI

any worth shaving with if I am used to a vision and 23c? Any the holy grail of old razors?

No holy grail, but some darn nice ones. Even better they were your Grandfather's.

I learned to shave with a black adjustable just like that one and the Fatboy has a reputation as a go to guy's razor.

Sounded like your Grandfather had a good run, hope he was solid till the end.

From left to right: Super adjustable - Flare tip Super Speed - Fat boy.
All these are considered good razors, I have not tried the super adjustable, but I have used both a flare tip and a Fatboy, and they are both great.
The Fatboy is considered the holy grail of razors amongst many, and not without reason.
Clean them up and use them, you will not regret it.

I wouldn't sell them if they were my grandfather's.

They are far more valuable as an heirloom. You'd be leaving them to your grandkids some day.

Dollars aren't that much in the long run.

They are very nice though. All three are very good shavers. The black handled one is the youngest one. The one in the middle is probably the oldest.

Clean them up a bit and get shaving!

+1 it's something to remember your grandfather.

I've a lot of memories of him. He and his wife practically raised me from 1st grade through 6th grade. He taught me a lot of things...gardening, investing, cooking, etc.

I will check out some threads on cleaning them...I have an ultrasonic, so is that a possibility instead of scrubbing them to death? Can they be disassembled and cleaned?

Grandfather was still pretty together at 98. As long as you did not try something against his will. He shaved with a boar and soap in a jar.

Then you have to keep them and not ever get them mixed up with others. A soak in warm soapy water, scrub easily with a tooth brush, spray with scrubbing bubbles, let sit just a minute, another easy brush and rinse with hot tap water. That works for me 95% of the time.

But folks with the ultrasonic cleaners swear by them.

I also swear by Ultrasonic cleaners to clean soap scum from otherwise unscrubable areas. I also swear AT them for removing all the paint from the adjustable's numbers. YMMV

Use them, enjoy them. They look nice. I am hoping to get one or two off my Dad, but he has been on the fence about giving up any of his. Some are his Dad's (who I never met), some are from other relatives that have passed, only a couple he purchased for himself.

You'd probably get 50 or 60 bucks total for them - the sentimental value is much higher!

For cleaning, search the wiki, there's an extensive article on the subject. Basically, soak in hot water and mild detergent until the works ungum, then Scrubbing Bubbles or a similar antibacterial cleanser to disinfect. If needed, a very very very light abrasive to polish them up and then they're good to use.

The knurling pattern on that fatboy looks odd, or maybe it's the picture.

Does the pattern go diagonally, or are all lines perpendicular to each other?

Keep them. I think people around here would routinely pay 80+ for the three.
Congrats, but sorry you lost your granddad. Hope things were good till the end.
