What's new

Old, Old Spice

Absolutely! You are about to experience one of the great vintage soaps of all time in my view. It was one of my go to soaps for many years and I count myself fortunate to still have a few rounds on hand. I hope you enjoy your new find of wonderful tallow goodness.

Regards,

Doug

Thanks Doug. I was hopping someone would say that.

That's the rub with old Old Spice soap.

It's a good, solid performer. No, I don't think it's as good or better than the best you can get today, but it's quite good.

It's also a reminder of when a guy could go to the corner store and choose between two or more perfectly good shaving soaps. It's a part of a shaving past now gone. It's a part of my memories of being a boy watching my dad shave. It is a little bit of history.

The supply is finite, of course. I have quite a few pucks, but I use them sparingly. The last one I will touch is a NIB mug and soap from 1938-39. If I live long enough to open it, it will be a bittersweet moment.

I challenged the old, old spice this morning. I looked at it and said "It's time for you to get up off your ***. You've had it good for over 40 years NIB and sitting around in antique stores with Granny's talking about using you and how you used to be a good shaving soap. Now show me what you can do!"

I threatened it.

"How many times have you heard people threaten to just dump you in the trash and save the mug you're in? You can't still be a good soap can you?"
...
"CAN YOU?"

Why yes, you can. The old, old spice rose to the challenge and gave me a wonderful shave this morning. Stuff's real slick, and I like it. It's also really cool to shave with soap that's older than I am. Great Success!
