Old Kamisori

I have just won this old Japanese Kamisori from eBay Japan, does any of you guys and gals know anything about this brand, maker, or know how old it is?
It looks really nice to me; this is my first real Japanese razor. I got 2 western style Japanese, but this is real, pure Japanese.

Looks like a chip or something down at the heel. It will probably require major honing or restoration. Not an easy proposition. I hope you have skills in honing these razors.

Yes, I was aware of the chip down at the heel end, but I wouldn’t call that a “major honing or restoration” I am almost sure 10 – 15 strokes with a diamond file it will go away. As per the photo below.


Years ago I was a toolmaker so I should be able to fix that. As for honing, I do hone all of my straight razors BUT I am not sure I be able to hone this one, I probably try.

Yep, your proposed filing will work. I've worked on a kamisori with a similar chip. It was pretty easy to deal with. Just make sure you de-burr the whole heel area before you hit the hones.

looks good. It is no accident that the tube at track and end not me I decided to bid on it. I hope that you tell us that such a result gives you to shaving you. I am interested in buying one but for now not me and decided. they say that they are difficult to sharpen
