Oktoberfest was last month but I was at The Great American Beer Festival in downtown Denver......in my kilt.

I haven't made specific plans yet, but last Thursday the Houston Chronicle had a special section titled "A Guide for Beer Geeks", with a subtitle "Drink up. It's Oktoberfest in Houston".

I saved it.

First day at the Oktoberfest, 3pm, i.e. barely started yet, and the tents were already packed each with about 6,000 drunk people dancing on the tables. Turned around and went to the section where they had the historic version from about 200 years ago. That was a treat. Except for the push-up bras. They didn't have them then, so the dirndls (dresses) were less exciting, albeit more accurate.

I am a teetotaler. But, maybe that is a big mistake! Possibly, in October, judging by the pictures, I should tip a glass or two!!
