What's new

ok.... I'm looking to try something special..

Ok, I am sitting here wanting to make a purchase in the next couple of days, and I am really wanting to try something special. maybe a Skin food, or a Milk, or just another great after shave. Im going to try the Dominica bay rum, but I am looking for some suggestions for some great summer stuff. Or something really special.......... lately I have been using, Clubman Pinaude, Tabac, and osage rub.

Have you tried the any of the skin foods yet? If not, I'd recommend getting the sampler if not, it's only about $4.00. I really like to use it after an AS splash because it's thinner than a balm (I have oily skin) but still provides some moisture. After I finish up my samples, I'm going to get at least the lime skin food and maybe the coral. They both smell great to me.

Penhaligon's B. B. EDT....
I agree. Pens makes some great scents and BB is lovely.
You could get yourself Penhaligons sample vials for $20 and see what you like (half of it's women's scents though) http://www.penhaligons.co.uk/shop/fragrance/try-me.html. They used to have a set of 5ml of 4 men's fragrances, but they don't seem to have that in the US anymore.

If you do order something from Penhaligon, ask for a few samples. They're fairly generous.

In the back of Bath and Body Works is the men's items. They have a nice selection of men's shaving stuff three different scents. I personally like the C.O. Bigelow Green Elixir ASB. It is a little less thick than my Polo Blue but smells about the same. The consistancy of the Polo Blue is too thick and makes my face break out. The consistancy was the first thing that I noticed when I used the Green Elixir. They have two other scents but the were just not my style. They were both a little to woodsy or musky while the Green provides a nice clean scent. The ASB is $10.00 a bottle.

Other than that, I just ordered my own bottle of bay rum with key lime for about $12.00 on Amazon. I am not at home to smell it but my wife thinks it smells okay.

One thing that I have noticed about some of the complaints about the scents in after shaves and soap is that it doesn't last long enough. IMHO they are not supposed to. I think that they are supposed to be there long enough to enhance your shave (the soaps) and then to provide a mild smell that is not overbearing (after shaves). That is what cologne is for. You probably do not your after shave to get to the party ahead of you! I personally feel that an after shave is there to provide a nice clean smell for a man so that the woman can get close to his face without having her sense of smell burned out.

Wow! Is this Penhaligon after shave really worth the 84 it's fetching? At that price it is something I would deffinantly like to try, but man, that's alot of money to throw down for 3.4 ounces of liquid....... I could put that towards another box of cuban cigars.... LOL..

If you're open to milk-type balms, I can't oversell The Gentleman's Refinery.

Not as fun or invigorating as a splash, but I think it's an excellent product.
