Oh right, I understand. I think I actually have the same pocket edition minus the double ring...

Are these heads silver plated? Because the top of mine looks to have a lovely patina in a dark grey tone.

Nope. These pocket editions were manufactured for Gillette by Ameriscan Button Company (ABC) and they came with a number of different handle designs, including a couple of different ones with two rings at the top. These were no more uncommon than any other ABC handle. In fact, at least six different pictures of this handle appear in Krumholz' Gillette Handbook.

I just got one of these 1909 types on eBay and I'm curious to see if there's a difference in shave between the 1911 guard and the 1919 guard. I believe the older ones have more "rounded" teeth.
