Numbers?

May be a silly question, but here goes, what are the numbers stamped on the tangs of certain razors, not all have them, but some do?

anyone know anything about the ones on Pumas?

Ive got two pumas recently, and both have different numbers, maybe someone has an old catalogue or something?

I would think some of them are either the Manifacturer ID like John said or the year they were made... Any pictures?

I would venture to say for example with Henckels, the number is a manufactures model number... all 50s are the same. (other than scale color) all 74s are the same. So I think the numbers are simply manufacturers model numbers. :tongue_sm

well yeah, but what do those numbers mean? different quality, different steel, different age? etc

I have contacted J. A. Henckels about the numbers... I don't know if or when they will get back to me or if they will tell me anything of any real value.

found on SRP:

The control number is stamped on each razor, which gives your puma an individual number. If you have a comment to make concerning the razor, be it favorable or not, please writ to us. We are always happy to know the opinions of professionals that take good care of their razor in order to know how the Puma works in his their hands.

All you have to do is indicate the control number stamped in the shank. With this information we are able to identify, even after many years, which worker tempered the blade, which worker sharpener sharpened it, and which controller conducted the 26 tests. The Puma razor is a masterpiece of precision. Each worker, even after many years, remains individually responsible for his or her

Also a catalogue with Henckels numbers
