When smelling Tabac, I don't get any of the tobacco and I wonder if that is because I occasionally smoke. So that got me wondering if there is any correlation between smoking and the enjoyment of the Tabac scent. I think this should prove interesting. Please participate!

This has always confused me, because the name of the stuff is Tabac, which is the French name for tobacco yet the product is German -- and there is no tobacco in the fragrance tree.

I don't smoke and it's been a long time since I last smelled tobacco leaves, yet people say they detect tobacco in the scent of Tabac.

You left out "Used to smoke like a chimney but quit, and would gladly pound wedges of Tabac up each nostril with a upholstery hammer so the scent of the soap could be enjoyed all day"

I'd vote for that. :w00t:

Oh I totally agree about the scent. I actually find it to be a very clean, powdery smell. If I haven't smoked in a few days, I can pick up the slight base notes of the tobacco.

I said don't smoke, but I enjoy a pipe or cigars a few times a month, and I enjoy the smell. But I do not pick up any tobacco scent, maybe because the real stuff smells so much stronger?

I'd really like to see an offshoot of this poll broken up into ages... I'm curious to know if there is a correlation to being older and enjoying that scent.

I can't say I enjoy the scent but I have nothing against it, either. To me the scent of Tabac is simply not a factor.

I can say I absolutely hate the smell of cigarette smoke and I detect none of that in Tabac.

I agree with this. I think Tabac smells like a chain smoker who has has cleaned up really nicely and put on some really good smell 'em leaving a tobacco tainted odor, but not leaving the cigarette smoke smell... The ASL, EdT, and deodorant are a whole other kinda scent... not nearly as pleasant as the soap

Tobacco scent and cigarette smoke scent are completely different. Tabac would be disgusting if it smelled like cigarette smoke.

That is probably the number one answer not posted.

I'm a cigar connoisseur and enjoy pipe tobacco couple times a month and I detect no tobacco scents in Tabac. I love my tobacco but Tabac smells better

Wow! 85% of voters like the smell of Tabac according to the poll. I guess the people that hate it are more vocal than the people that like it. Based on what I read on this forum, I thought that most people hated the scent. I'm glad I'm not crazy because I Love the scent.

I'm a former smoker of cigarettes, pipe tobacco, and cigars. I do not detect a tobacco note. What I do find is a very elusive scent that is reminiscent of pipe tobacco or maybe a place where pipe tobacco has been stored. It is one of those things that I can't pick out on command but, when I do pick it up, I find it very nice and subtle. I think it might be some olfactory trickery that implies tobacco without actually smelling of it.

Coincidentally, I quit smoking just before I started this wet shaving hobby, (over 7 months ago). And tabac was the first shave soap I bought.

I was not expecting it to smell like tabacco, since that was not how people described it. I've moved on to other soaps and so that bowl is still half full.

Sometimes job pressure gets to me and I crave for a cigarette. I should now stop thinking about this... bye.
