What's new

Noire and Encre too

I'm really not the nose big enough to detect the ink in EN but,
I've just had an epiphany (I'm sure that fragrance loving people are laughing at my face but), it's not that one wears Encre Noire, it's the other way around. There are scents that do that IMHO...
Or am I wrong?
...show me the way to the relevant thread please.
??

BTW I resent that jakespoppy's comments are missing. Something is not right...

(I hate that, personally)

How abstract. I love EN however, I don't find myself gravitating towards it as much as I'd like. It's probably my most beautifully constructed scent. I don't really discern ink, per se, however I feel it as more of a sense. I think you're right in a way, it really decides when to be worn.

I used to own a bottle of EN then sold it. I loved it actually, but wore other vetivers instead. All the time. So...
I recall I did pick up an "inky" note but can't say now if I was making it up or not.
EN didn't wear me but fragrances that do are typically the ones that are challenging to me - they often feel like a car with much more power than I need but that I end up using any way - for the fun of it.

Thank you very much for your kind answers guys. I see what you are telling, but I'm obviously still missing something. This afternoon I'm having Encre Noire (again) at my right wrist and Daim Blond at my left. I'm apparently having an inkish phase. I'm trying to re-conciliate apples and oranges, I know.
An old aunt recently visited me. She worked at a Croatian long gone pencil factory. I was presented with some ink pens. Anyway, on my humble scale, Daim Blond kick kicks better...something (I'm, hopefully, having a full wearing of DB tomorrow).

BTW, is there a rule of writing a coma before an 'and'? Sorry English speaking people this one is meant for you.

English has very loose rules. In the context you used 'and' you would not use a comma. Generally you use a comma when there is a distinguishable pause in the sentence.

Speaking of EN, I just ordered a bottle tonight. I'm excited because I love this fragrance and I got a fantastic deal. I'm really into Vetivers right now and I wear Guerlain most days and EN from a sample in the evenings. I do pick up an inky note but without the inkwell shaped bottle and the color of the juice to go by I don't know if I would've identified it.

I grew up on a farm/ranch surrounded by pastures, rivers, and grain fields. The Guerlain reminds me of the condensed damp smell of the pasture grasses and fields in the early morning. EN reminds me of those same fields after the sun has set and the stars are coming out. I choose to wear them and hope to keep them both close by.

considering purchasing this one for a while now, EN. I'm particularly interested if the "Ink" note smells similar to the ink note in Creeds Silver Mountain Water.
