I know this has been discussed before, but is there a relatively easy way to tell if a razor is (in part or wholly) nickle plated? I have read of methods where you chemically treat the surface to tell, but I was wondering if there were an easier way?

Nickel is nickel-colored, very hard, usually shiny. 
Okay, compared to what?
Relative to silver, nickel is harder, brighter, does not tarnish to brown or black in the presence of sulfur compounds (that boiled egg smell, or air pollution).
Relative to chrome, nickel is more yellow than blue.
With experience, you can often tell by observation.
